Christianity and what it means to millions of people
There are three gods Christians believe in: 1. The father (who created the world), 2. The son (who sacrificed himself), 3. The holy spirit (which is God's presence).
Christians abide by the Holy Bible.
The Holy Bible is religious text divided into 2 parts: the New testament and the Old testament.
Testaments
The New Testament: goes into depth about the influence of the Church and how Jesus lived.
The Old Testament goes into depth about the scriptures that Jesus wrote in his time on Earth
Main story of Jesus Christ
God, the father, sent his son to earth to teach people how to love and how to stop committing sins. He would be born into Mary and would grow up in a humble Jewish family, growing up to become a Carpenter and experience human suffering. He would perform miracles and gain a loyal following of 12 disciples.
He was ultimately sentenced to be crucified, because of his rising influence over the Roman Empire. Jesus was hung over a cross, beaten with a whip, and would presumably die. Three days later, he would resurrect and ascend back into heaven.
There are three branches of Christianity: Orthodox, Protestant, Roman Catholic.
